Surya Namaskar A is a series of postures that are linked together by using the breath. Surya means the sun and Namaskar means a greeting or salutation in honor of the divine present in each of us. It is like a moving meditation. There are 10 postures/asanas in the vinyasa sequence starting with Samasthiti. This sequence is done at the beginning of a yoga practice. It also maybe your yoga practice or you may chose to add in the Surya Namakar B sequence as well. It is also practiced to bring awareness to your breath and body and to create warmth in the body. Be joyful and free as you transition through the asana like a dance on your mat.
